New York Giants tight end Jake Ballard Tore his A.C.L. In the Superbowl Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE

Yesterday it was speculated that Giants TE Jake Ballard might have torn his meniscus, but it turns out he tore his A.C.L.

The @Giants announce that TE Jake Ballard suffered a torn ACL in the Super Bowl

This comes after the team announced during the game that Travis Beckum also tore his A.C.L. With these tears occurring so late in the season it makes Tight End a priority need for the New York Giants in free agency or in the draft.

The Free Agency class isn’t spectacular, but it’s solid. There are stop gap players available like TE John Carlson, Buffalo Bills TE Scott Chandler. There are also two good tight ends who could become available in Jermichael Finley and Fred Davis of the Washington Redskins.

Look for the Giants to attack tight end early in the draft.
