Adrian Hamilton Scouting Report DL Prairie View

facebooktwitterreddit

This is our Adrian Hamilton Scouting report.Hamilton was an extremely productive player for Prairie View who put up unreal numbers, the question is does that translate to the N.F.L. level.

Hamilton declared to Oklahoma State, but was a casualty of the process of coaches offering out too many scholarships and trying to sign too many players so he went to Texas Tech, but eventually transferred to Prairie View.

Measurables:

6’2 250 pounds

Stats:

It’s blank at the ESPN site and I can’t find them today. I’ll look for them.

I know he had 20.5 sacks this season.

Pros:

Terrific motor and plus closing speed…absolutely dominated his competition…a lot of pure athleticism… uses a nice spin move to get after the passer…Lays big hits on the quarterback…

Cons:

Does not have the size to play DE in the N.F.L. in nearly every system…I have questions about his strength, though he did beat double teams…I also have questions about his ability to drop in coverage as a 34 OLB…Doesn’t have an elite first step…a lot of raw, untapped ability, but it’ll be a tough transition…He needs to improve his hand work and technique and also his pass rush arsenal, though he does have a couple moves like a spin move

Player comparison:

Robert Mathis. They are the same size and type of athletic ability, coincidentally Hamilton is trying to take the same road to the N.F.L., Mathis made it, will Hamilton? I think a lot of it will depend on what kind of system he ends up in.

Round Projection:

Projections are a bit harder for players like this, but I think the highest he could go is mid fourth round I’d expect around the 6th .

Thoughts:

Form what I’ve seen of Hamilton he has the athletic ability to make it in the N.F.L., but he is very raw. He was so much better than his competition at Prairie View that the game was often easy to him, and oddly when I watched his tapes he didn’t make any plays against double teams. What is undeniable about Hamilton though he is athletic and also that he gives terrific effort, his Day we’ll tell teams a lot about how athletic he is and whether or not he is fluid enough in the hips to play outside as a 34 OLB, but he’s a very intriguing day three prospect.
