Houston Texans 2012 NFL Mock Draft

1st round pick 26-Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech

I’ve been trying to battle against this pick, but it seems like a perfect match. I asked Lance Zierlien of the Houston Chronicle, and sidelineview.com, a guy who really knows the Texans inside and out and he said Hill fits a lot of what they are looking for in a WR.

2nd round pick 58-Bobby Wagner, LB, Utah State

The Texans replace Demeco Ryans with the athletic and physical Bobby Wagner. The Texans gravitate towards high-character guys and Wagner is a well respected team leader and was extremely productive. The Texans need to find someone to play inside in their 34 defense.

3rd round 76-Ben Jones, C, Georgia

Ben Jones is solid value in the early portion of round three (because of the trade with the Philadelphia Eagles) and the Texans have lost some offensive linemen during free agency so I expect them to take an offensive linemen early at some point, I’m just not sure which offensive linemen and at which position.

4th round 121-Markelle Martin, S, Oklahoma State

Markelle Martin was considered one time as a late second round pick, but his stock has been really quiet and now looks like a fourth round pick. The Texans could use more depth at the safety position. Martin is a talented player, who didn’t make enough plays at Oklahoma State.

5th round 161-Jonathan Massaquoi, OLB, Troy

Massaquoi is a favorite of a lot of draftniks, but I don’t love him. He’s also projected as a late 5th round pick in profoobtballweekly’s draft value chart, but I think if he was available  in the late fifth round the Texans would definitely consider drafting him.

6th round 195-George Bryan, TE, NC State

The Texans take a big time blocking tight end with their selection here of George Bryan.

7th round 233-Eric Page, WR, Toledo

I’m a fan of Eric Page. A player who plays faster than he times. A guy who’ll go over the middle and can also be a return man. The Texans could make this guy into a player. Good hands, though he has smalle rhands.
