Washington Redskins rookie and fourth round pick Bashaud Breeland was cited for marijuana possession according to Zac Boyer of the Washington Times.  The incident apparently happened on Monday near the campus of Virginia Commonwealth, the night before the camp was set to end.

The team has only announced that they are aware of the situation and will not make any further comment at this time.  A hearing is scheduled for August 26th.  Breeland continued as normal with the team on Tuesday and the camp broke, going back to headquarters where they will continue workouts starting on Thursday.

Breeland opted to declare after his junior year from Clemson, where he was a fourth round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft for the Redskins.  Breeland has a good combination of size, strength and length that could enable him to play at corner or safety.  In terms of polish, Breeland is still quite raw and could have used another year to really work and improve his technique.  To this point, Breeland’s progress and ability has been praised by the coaching staff, but this will obviously be an issue; how much of one remains to be seen.
