With their second pick in the first round and No. 19 overall, the Cleveland Browns selected offensive lineman Cameron Erving. The pick was a good pick as he has looked as impressive as he can look in the Browns offseason program. The only problem, if there is one, with Erving, is figuring out a place for him to play.

After working primarily at right tackle, Erving manned left tackle, where he played the most at Florida State. Erving has also played some guard at points during the Browns offseason program. And the versatile Erving is okay with whatever position the Browns so choose to put him at.

He told Cleveland Browns.com, “I am an offensive lineman. A lot of people say that is the politically correct answer, but that is just my honest answer. I couldn’t give you any other answer. I will do anything the team needs me to do. I have always been the type of person to do what was best for the team.”

He played left tackle and center in college but has the versatility and intelligence to play all five spots on the offensive line. But the Browns have Joe Thomas at left tackle, Alex Mack at center and Joel Bitonio, a player whom many considered a Pro Bowl snub, at left guard. Erving is a good player to have in case Mack gets hurt again or decides to leave after this year.

But his best chances to start in 2015 are narrowed down to right guard and right tackle. And of the two positions, it looks more like right tackle because John Greco was mighty good last year, leaving Mitchell Schwartz as the weakest link. If Eriving is anything like he is advertised, the Browns will have the best offensive line in football.

They’re pretty close without him!
