Arkansas’ Hunter Henry 2016 Scouting Report.

Hunter Henry is widely regarded as the top tight end prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft, but he is still a bit underrated. This is an impact player who can attack the seam and help as a blocker. He’s only scratching the surface of his potential and should be able to make a real impact at the next level.

His biggest impact will come as a pass catcher where he shows a ton of promise. Henry has the speed and explosiveness to create mismatch problems. He’s capable of attacking the deep middle, creating separation on crossing patterns and winning jump-ball situations.

Henry features strong hands and the ability to pluck the ball away from his frame. He is a fluid athlete who runs clean routes. This is also a savvy and aware receiver who can locate open zones in the defense.

He’s a willing blocker who knows his assignments. This clip shows Henry firing off the ball and getting enough of the linebacker to spring the running back for a nice gain:

Henry isn’t a road-grader but does a good job gaining inside hands and sealing the defender. He also does a good job in pass protection. His commitment to using proper hand placement and maintaining balance helps him protect the edge.

As mentioned earlier, Henry is considered the top tight end prospect in this draft. However, he should be getting some attention as a 1st round prospect. His ability to hurt a defense through the air and also contribute as a blocker makes him an important piece of the puzzle.
