Earlier this year, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning didn’t look like he would even make it through the season. But Sunday, he mustered up all that was within that broken down body and face rival Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game. Neither quarter back is what they were about five years ago but they are just as competitive.

And it made for just as thrilling of a game that they had when the were both youngsters. Neither one of these quarterbacks are the best are the best ever but his has to be the greatest quarterback rival NFL history. Many say that Brady is better than Manning based on his 11-5 overall record against him despite all the records Manning holds.

The cite the four Super Bowls he won with his Patriots but Super Bowl wins are a team accomplishment. They’ve even said Brady is the better big-game quarterback based on his past success against teams Manning was on. But in the five times Manning has faced Brady in the playoffs, Manning has won three of them.

They have faced each other in four AFC Championship games (big games Brady is known for) and Manning won three of those. So we can stop all the nonsense about Brady being the superior quarterback or superior in big games. And Sunday’s AFC Championship game, Manning’s third win in a row over Brady in the playoffs, proved one thing.

It proved the quarterback with the best team is going to win the game. In the Early 2000s, Brady had guys like CB Ty Law, OLB Willie McGinest and DE Richard Seymour playing defense for him. And in the those years, they beat up on Manning on their way to their Super Bowl runs.

Then a few years later, when Brady started losing guys, Manning took to the Inianapolis Colts to the Super Bowl with Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis playing defense for him. Then to conclude the 2013 season, Manning threw for over 400 yards to get his Broncos past Brady’s Patriots and after being too injured to face him last year, he beat Brady again Sunday.

In these last two playoff games Manning has won, Manning has had OLB Von Miller Derek Wolfe and Aquib Talib playing defense for him. This is very similar if not better than what Manning had to face in the early 2000s. Manning and Brady are comparable quarterback who have beaten each other when they’ve had the better team.

Neither one is superior!
