The Oakland Raiders have a great foundation of players including a franchise quarterback these days. So more than at any time in recent years, they will be attractive to free agents this offseason. Oh yeah, and they have the most cap space available money to spend when free agency starts this offseason.

New York Jets 6’4″, 315-pound beast 3-4 end Muhammad Wilkerson’s contract is up soon too. And CBSSports NFL insider Jason La Canfora said that the Raiders would use that money to go after Wilkerson, whom the Raiders tried to trade for last year. La Canfora then went on to say the Raiders wouldn’t be involved in the Luke Kueckly sweepstakes.

If the Raiders could pull that off, they would likely have one of the best defensive front-7’s in the NFL. They’ll already have Khalil Mack and Aldon Smith bringing that heat off the edge as OLBs. Nose tackle Dan Williams will be back with emerging defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr. as well.

All they would need is an inside linebacker to go along with 2015 free agent pick-up Malcolm Smith. Maybe not Myles Jack but either Jaylon Smith or Reggie Ragland will be there at No. 14 in the draft as well. Wilkerson is only 26 years old with 12 sacks last season so he would be another young dominant player on that defense.

And with emerging corner David Amerson, the Raiders secondary they team is improving on the back-end too. All they would need is a replacement for departed legend Charles Woodson at free safety. Soon-to-be former San Diego Chargers free safety Eric Weddle would be good to go with there.

Can you imagine that?

The Raiders would finally be back!
