Dallas Cowboys 2016 Mock Draft

This is the sixth in a series doing a full 2016 mock draft for an individual team. Next up is a team that was saw their 2015 season go down in flames largely due to injuries: the Dallas Cowboys. As always this is a mock of what I think that the team will do, not what I would do as the team’s decision maker.

1st: Jalen Ramsey, DB FSU
He would be an absolute star in their cover-2 system and while taking him isn’t a need pick, he would represent the best player available for them to snag this high. I personally don’t believe the Jared Goff rumors nor that they’ll take a QB this high. Romo has 2-3 more good years left in him, but I could see them going after Robert Griffin III or another quarterback who needs a change of scenery and time to sit and learn.

2nd: DeVontae Booker, RB Utah
Booker is the kind of 3 down back that the Cowboys lacked when Murray bolted for Philadelphia. He’s recovering from yet another knee injury that he suffered but could be a Le’Veon Bell type steal in the high 2nd round. He has receiving skills better than most wideouts do as rookies and looks comfortable in about every role. The question with him is how much he has left physically after so many knee issues.

3rd: Jake Rudock, QB Michigan
Rudock is a prospect that the draftniks aren’t talking much about but the scouts have taken a shine to. He has that unquantifiable it factor where he makes plays, even in big games. Teams are going to like his measurables also so expect a rise from “who?” to “hot pick in day 2.”

4th: Keyarris Garrett, WR Tulsa
Another prospect who’s flying under the radar. Garrett has an NFL body and does a lot of the little things(route running, footwork, hands) that the scouts will love. He’s not a first round pick because he struggles with the press and is considered a “long strider”(which means he doesn’t run as fast as he could).
