Ohio State Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott is the best at his position in the 2016 NFL Draft. His phenomenal talent warrants a top-10 pick like St. Louis Rams star Todd Gurley in 2015 too. His combination of burst, power, vision, speed, balance and moves is really something to behold.

Manny thought the Dallas Cowboys would take a running back last year after they lost Demarco Murray free-agent in free agency. Darren McFadden eventually came in after injuries and mishaps to get 1,000 yards but the Cowboys fear injuries if he gets the ball too much. The Cowboys want to get back to using the most physical offensive line in the game.

And a physical running back to go with it is what the Cowboys to get themselves back on top. So Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys could be a match made in Heaven—at least Elliott sees it that way. He made that clear on NFL Now that Dallas was his ideal draft destination during his interview Friday.

Elliott said, “The Dallas Cowboys are my pick. I want to go play behind that great offensive line they have down in Dallas.”

I don’t know if the Cowboys were Elliott’s childhood team or not but that’s a smart choice for a running back. Alabama’s Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry said the same thing to the media a while back. When you look at the way the Cowboys offensive line mashes on fools, every top running back coming out would make that choice.

Now, Elliott has to make the Cowboys want him and his game-tape is certainly a case for him. He has a chance to cement that case to the Cowboys in a few weeks at the NFL Scouting Combine. And in his interview, it sounds like he has plans to impress the Cowboys along with everyone else in the NFL.

Elliott said of his combine plan,”We’re trying to get down in the 4.3 range. We’re working.”

The Cowboys have to take him No. 4 overall if he runs that fast!
