It looks like the New Orleans Saints have hit the reset button and gone into full rebuild mode. Outside of quarterback Drew Brees, core players from their 2009 team that won the Super Bowl are moving on. Soon, that will include 32-year-old receiver Marques Colston, who has been with the team for 10 years.

ESPN originally reported that the Saints are set to part ways with receiver via a release. Colston hasn’t been the same the past two years, managing just 520 yards on 45 catches and four TDs in 2015. The Saints will save $3.2 million in cap space by cutting Colston but will have $2.7 million in dead money.

Brandon Coleman looks like a promising possession receiver at 6’6″, 225 pounds. And his play made it easier to decide to cut one of the best receivers in franchise history. Colston is the Saints’ all-time leading receiver with 9,759 yards and 72 touchdowns over his 10 years with the team.

He was sensational alongside Drew Brees for years, compiling six 1,000-yard-plus seasons in his first seven years. He was a steal of a 7th-round pick in 2006, making an immediate impact with 1,038 receiving yards and eight TDs as a rookie. But the Sun eventually sets on every athlete’s career and the Saints see that Sunset for Colston.

We’ll see in the coming weeks if Colston recognizes that Sunset himself or decides to take a shot at with another team.
