2016 NFL Draft 1st Round

1. Los Angeles Rams

The NFL wants the Rams to keep things under wraps, but it has leaked that Jared Goff will be their pick. Goff is a highly intelligent quarterback who makes quick decisions from inside the pocket. The mental aspect of his game will be what helps him see the field earlier than most expect.. QB. California. Jared Goff . 1. player. 51

2. Philadelphia Eagles

QB. North Dakota State. Carson Wentz . 2. player. 54. Philadelphia obviously feels that Carson Wentz is a future star. They not only traded away a ton of draft picks to get up to No. 2, but also alienated their current quarterback Sam Bradford. Wentz has the physical traits to succeed but needs time to learn the ins and outs of a pro-style offense.

3. San Diego Chargers

13. I personally see Buckner as a 2nd round prospect, but the rest of the draft community loves his upside. He has good length, plays the run well and can generate some pressure on the quarterback. Buckner is an ideal fit as a 5-technique in the Chargers 3-4 defense.. DE. Oregon. DeForest Buckner . 3. player

4. Dallas Cowboys

123. Ramsey is an elite athlete who is a bit raw when it comes to technique and feel for the game. Dallas has needs in the secondary and honestly just a need for playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. One thing to keep in mind is that Ramsey will have his share of bumps in the road as he transitions to the NFL game.. FS. Florida State. Jalen Ramsey . 4. player

5. Jacksonville Jaguars

5. player. 52. The buzz surrounding Leonard Floyd is intense with many insiders reporting that he’s likely to be a top-10 pick. Floyd is an explosive athlete who has the potential to be a top-end pass rusher. He reminds me a little of Bruce Irvin who was drafted by Seattle when Gus Bradley was their defensive coordinator.. OLB. Georgia. Leonard Floyd

6. Baltimore Ravens

player. 26. Ozzie Newsome and the Ravens are consistent in that they routinely grab the most talented player available. In this mock, they have a chance to solidify the left side of their offensive line for the foreseeable future. Tunsil is a fluid athlete who excels at protecting the passer.. OT. Ole Miss. Laremy Tunsil . 6

7. San Francisco 49ers

player. 42. Chip Kelly has a very strong stance on sports science and the way it can help keep players healthy. This belief is key because of the concerns surrounding Myles Jack’s knee. If healthy, Jack is one of the two best players in this draft and high-impact player.. OLB. UCLA. Myles Jack . 7

8. Cleveland Browns

Joey Bosa . 8. player. 53. The Browns ability to trade out of the No. 2 spot really paid off in this scenario. They landed a haul of extra draft picks and were still able to land an elite talent like Joey Bosa. His hard-nosed style of play will immediately endure him to the Cleveland fans—not to mention the type he spent at Ohio State.. DE. Ohio State

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

9. player. 48. Donovan Smith had a solid rookie season, but his skill set projects better at right tackle or even guard. Adding a natural left tackle like Ronnie Stanley would be a great move by the Buccaneers. They need to ensure the long-term health of Jameis Winston if they hope to get back into playoff/Super Bowl contention.. OT. Notre Dame. Ronnie Stanley

10. New York Giants

RB. Ohio State. Ezekiel Elliott . 10. player. 31. This mock draft doesn’t feature any trades which is the only reason Ezekiel Elliott is available here at No. 10 overall. The Giants could use an upgrade at the running back position in order to stabilize the offensive production. A strong running attack can take pressure off the quarterback, create opportunities for the receivers and provide protection for the offensive line.

11. Chicago Bears

DE. Clemson. Shaq Lawson . 11. player. 57. Chicago needs to add defensive playmakers and Shaq Lawson is arguably the most disruptive defender in this draft class. He’s a violent player who is always in attack mode looking to make a game changing play.

12. New Orleans Saints

DT. Louisville. Sheldon Rankins . 12. player. 15. Sheldon Rankins is a talented, but undersized defensive line prospect. I’m lower on him than most evaluators but do see where he can make an impact. The Saints need help along the defensive line and someone capable of making plays in the backfield.

13. Miami Dolphins

player. 59. I’m not buying the Vernon Hargreaves III is falling hype. He’s the best cover cornerback in this draft and the last time I checked that’s what corners are asked to do. Miami needs help in the secondary after moving on from Brent Grimes.. CB. Florida. Vernon Hargreaves III . 13

14. Oakland Raiders

14. player. 28. Oakland has built themselves a very nice roster that appears ready to contend. However, they could use a thumper at the middle linebacker position like Reggie Ragland. This is someone that defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. will instantly love.. ILB. Alabama. Reggie Ragland

15. Tennessee Titans

player. 35. Tennessee needs help at the right tackle position and Jack Conklin happens to fall in their laps in this mock. However, it’s possible that the Titans need to orchestrate a trade in order to move up a few spots to secure a tackle like Conklin.. OT. Michigan State. Jack Conklin . 15

16. Detroit Lions

16. player. 50. The Lions have several glaring needs with offensive tackle the most pressing. They can’t continue to allow Matthew Stafford to get hit as much as he has in the past few years. Taylor Decker is an NFL-ready prospect who will not only help keep Stafford upright but will also improve the run game.. OT. Ohio State. Taylor Decker

17. Atlanta Falcons

Ohio State. Darron Lee . 17. player. 44. I don’t see the love for Darron Lee who struggles working off blocks at making plays at the line of scrimmage. However, some are blinded by his athleticism and feel he can get stronger and improve his overall feel for the game.. OLB

18. Indianapolis Colts

46. The Colts need help across the entire offensive line. Ryan Kelly is an NFL-ready prospect who can step in and immediate improve the entire group. He’s an excellent athlete who can reach the second level and keep pressure out of the face of the quarterback.. C. Alabama. Ryan Kelly . 18. player

19. Buffalo Bills

A'Shawn Robinson . 19. player. 16. A’Shawn Robinson is one of my top-rated players, but the rest of the draft community doesn’t agree with that assessment. Robinson is a powerful force in the trenches with the ability to occupy blockers and make plays way from his frame.. DT. Alabama

20. New York Jets

The rumors involving the Jets making a push to move up to the top-5 in order to draft Wentz or Goff shows that they don’t believe in Bryce Petty. It also speaks to the fact that they don’t place a lot of value on Ryan Fitzpatrick. Paxton Lynch is an elite talent who would really thrive under the guidance of Chan Gailey.. QB. Memphis. Paxton Lynch . 20. player. 30

21. Washington Redskins

22. Houston Texans

Corey Coleman is an explosive athlete with tremendous upside. However, his route-tree is extremely limited and will hinder his ability to make an immediate impact. I have him rated as a 3rd round prospect who’ll struggle to adjust to pro-style concepts.. WR. Baylor. Corey Coleman . 22. player. 10

23. Minnesota Vikings

Doctson is my top-rated receiver and someone who will make an immediate impact. He has great length, underrated quickness and the leaping ability to win in contested situations. His ability as a route-runner is highly underrated and something that will help him see the field early in his career.. WR. TCU. Josh Doctson . 23. player. 60

24. Cincinnati Bengals

WR. Notre Dame. Will Fuller . 24. player. 56. Cincinnati needs to use this draft to rebuild the depth of their wide receiver group. At this point, A.J. Green is the only threat on the outside. Will Fuller will immediately change that thanks to his speed and ability to take the top off a defense.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers

CB. Houston. William Jackson III . 25. player. 55. The Steelers secondary has been a weakness for a few seasons now and it’s time they invest draft capital on this group. William Jackson III is a long and athletic corner who does a good job in man coverage. He is also a confident player who isn’t afraid to matchup against an opponent’s top playmaker.

26. Seattle Seahawks

36. Last year, the Seahawks saw their season turn around once the offensive line started to play better. They can’t afford another slow start and must add some talent to the offensive line group. Germain Ifedi is a versatile lineman who can play tackle or guard. He needs to work on becoming more consistent, but his athleticism gives him tons of upside.. OT. Texas A&M. Germain Ifedi . 26. player

27. Green Bay Packers

player. 49. The Packers need to add some beef along the defensive line where they are dealing with the loss of B.J. Raji. Andrew Billings is a massive defensive tackle who can occupy blockers or generate some penetration. He has the skills needed to step in and immediate start at nose tackle.. DT. Baylor. Andrew Billings . 27

28. Kansas City Chiefs

28. player. 124. Artie Burns is one of the hotter names in the draft and could come off the board earlier than expected. He’s getting so much attention because of his natural athleticism, length and toughness. The concern is that he plays too much with his hands and could struggle with pass interference penalties.. CB. Miami (Fla.). Artie Burns

29. Arizona Cardinals

Eli Apple . 29. player. 32. Eli Apple is a big-bodied cornerback who plays a physical style of football. He’s someone who can matchup against bigger targets and fight through contact. Arizona needs a reliable cover man to work opposite Patrick Peterson.. CB. Ohio State

30. Carolina Panthers

87. Even before moving on from Josh Norman, the Panthers secondary needed upgrades at multiple positions. They could justify using their first couple picks on defensive backs. Karl Joseph is a big hitter who covers a lot of ground from his safety position. His physical style of play will fit right in with this group.. SS. West Virginia. Karl Joseph . 30. player

31. Denver Broncos

Kansas State. Cody Whitehair . 31. player. 45. The Broncos have several areas that they need to address in this draft including the offensive line, quarterback, defensive line and linebacker. Cody Whitehair makes sense here because he both fills a need and represents great value. However, Christian Hackenberg and Connor Cook can’t be ruled out with this pick.. OG
