The Philadelphia Eagles gave up the farm to take QB Carson Wentz at No. 2 overall. And they’re going to take their sweet time with him as Sam Bradford, who played at a high level late last year, will remain the starter. Afterall, they are paying him a lot of money the next couple of years.

Wentz is a developmental quarterback and the Eagles plan to be extra patient with him. The word on the Philly streets is that they may be so patient that he doesn’t even dress out this season. Of course, Bradford is slated to open the season as the starter and Chase Daniel is the  No. 2.

Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice reported that there’s a chance Wentz isn’t active on game days. A lot of teams only suit up two quarterbacks on game days now that the NFL has eliminated the “emergency quarterback” rule. So if Bradford and Daniel are both healthy, Wentz won’t dress.

Head coach Doug Pederson must have been told something that made him confident he’ll get all five years his contract. The team isn’t exactly loaded right now and they gave up their Rounds 1,3, and 4 this year their Round 1 for 2017 and their Round 3 pick for 2018.

Eagles fans better hope Bradford plays well and stays healthy and if not, they better hope Daniels does. If things don’t go according to plan for the Eagles, Wentz will end up having to play in 2016. And if that ends up being the case, it could ruin him because he’s not ready.

Even at the low level of competition he faced in college, Wentz absolutely freaked with there was pressure coming. The pressure will come faster and more consistently so his mind better keep up. I’m not sure you can coach nerves up but if Pederson can, it’s going to take some time.

It sounds like Pederson either believe he can win with Stafford now and-or he has job security.
