Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain still doesn’t get it!

It all started in 2011, when McClain he was with the Oakland Raiders and flew to Decatur for his grandfather’s funeral. It was alleged during that trip that he pointed a gun at a man and fired it next to his head. He was arrested the next day and was later convicted of four misdemeanors.

When McClain appealed, the charges were later dropped in exchange for an undisclosed financial settlement. He then went on to have a rough offseason and it was reported that McClain told then teammate Michael Huff that he didn’t want to play anymore.

Then in November of 2012 he started dogging it in practice, leading to a shouting match between him and then Raiders head coach Dennis Allen to kick him out of that practice. Allen would then relegate him to scout team running back and special teams for the rest of that season.

After the season, McClain returned to Decatur, where  he was pulled over for a window-tint violation. He gave the police a false name and was arrested (he later paid a $186 fine). That was enough knuckle-headed behavior for the Raiders so they released him.

That April, McClain was arrested for a third time in when cops told him to leave a park and McClain allegedly said, “F— the police!” He was then put in jail on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

From there, he was picked up by the Baltimore Ravens, who thought they could fix him. They just lost future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis and McClain is talented, so there’s no surprise there. But the Ravens couldn’t get a down out of him because he didn’t want to play and retired.

Then his rights are traded to the Dallas Cowboys, his childhood team, and it looked like a story of redemption. He gave the Cowboys the little defensive presence they had in 2014. Behind that and a NFL MVP season from RB DeMarco Murray, the team went 12-4 and won a playoff game.

In 2015, McClain’s deamons visited him again and was suspended for the first four games for a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. McClain looked to have made the most of last season, making 80 tackles and an interception in 11 starts, which is why he was re-signed.

But McClain has violated the NFL’s policy on substance abuse again and will serve a 10-game suspension. It’s time for the Cowboys to cut ties with McClain as they already have young DE’s Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence missing 2016’s first four games with their suspensions.

McClain should be made an example for the two youngsters because he clearly doesn’t get it!
