The Dallas Cowboys got on a plane Thursday, headed for Southern California for the start of their training camp. They know they’ll be without the services of ILB Rolando McClain for 10 games, DE Randy Gregory for at least 10 games, and fellow DE Demarcus Lawrence for four games.

All three are allowed and expected by the Cowboys to attend training camp. But of the three, McClain was not on the flight that the team took to Southern California on Thursday. Players can report on their own as guys like Tony Romo Dez Bryant and Orlando Scandrick did.

But McClain was not on that flight and according to the Dallas Morning News, has until tomorrow to report. If you ask someone from the Cowboys why he wasn’t on the flight, you’ll hear crickets because the team does not yet have an explanation for his absence.

If he has reported already and we just don’t know or reports tomorrow, this story is nothing. But right now it is because he’s already skipped all the voluntary workout this offseason. Plus McClain has been anything but a guy you can depend on since 2012.

In 2012, he was insubordinate with then head coach Dennis Allen when he was with the Oakland Raiders. McClain was kicked off the field and later, kicked off the team. The Baltimore Ravens, who just lost Ray Lewis to retirement, signed him but he never showed up and played in 2013.

The Cowboys would then pick him up in 2014 and he would have a nice little run. He played pretty well and kept his nose clean until failing a drug test in 2015 and got suspended four games. And now, after failing another drug test and being suspended 10 games, he’s awol.

How much more trust can Jerry Jones put in him?
