The Tennessee Titans have just made a mistake!

They agreed to trade receiver Dorial Green-Beckham to the Philadelphia Eagles for offensive lineman Dennis Kelly. At 6’5″, 237 pounds and good speed, Green-Beckham is a deep threat. His catch radius is just the thing for quarterback Marcus Mariota, who struggles to throw the ball down the field, needs.

Not all receivers can have the immediate impact Odell Beckham Jr. had. But Green-Beckham came along, finishing last season with 32 catches for 549 yards and four TDs. Amari Cooper of the Oakland Raiders was the only receiver in the class of 2015 with better numbers.

And the Titans get back a journeyman of an offensive lineman with 15 starts going into his fifth year. The Titans have a young offensive line coming back and just beefed it up, drafting right tackle Jack Conklin. All he’ll do is add competition to the team’s offensive line in Tennessee.

Up to now, the moves the Titans have made this offseason have been pretty good. They brought in DeMarco Murray via free agency and drafted Derrick Henry to boost the running game. But the Titans need more out of Mariota if they’re going to win games this year.

All the bubble screens, slants Mariota put his numbers up with did with anything last year. That’s because you have to throw the ball down the field to win in the NFL. The Titans especially need to throw the ball down the field to keep the eighth man out of the box to help stop the run.

Otherwise, the same defense you line up in to stop the run can stop the short pass. This is a good move for the Eagles, who could use some receiver help while not giving anything up. But the Titans have set Mariota and themselves back with this move.
