The 2015 NFL Draft wide receiver class has really struggled to make a major impact on the league.

Nobody expected the 2015 NFL Draft wide receiver class to have the same impact as the one from 2014, but nobody expected to see such little success. The only receiver from the first two rounds to make a difference is Amari Cooper who went No. 4 overall.

Carolina’s Devin Funchess, a 2nd round pick, is having a good preseason after what was a solid rookie campaign. He is in line to get a lot of snaps and attention from Cam Newton. There are some who feel he could surpass Kelvin Benjamin as the team’s No. 1 target.

Injuries have played a big role in the lack of production by Kevin White, Breshad Perriman, Phillip Dorsett and Devin Smith. All except Smith are on schedule to open the regular season the active roster.

Putting the injuries aside doesn’t necessarily help the situation. White has struggled during the preseason only able to manage 3 catches for a total of 12 yards. Nelson Agholor has also had a rough preseason where he continues to struggle with drops.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been very patient with him by continuing to give him snaps with the 1st-team offense. Some of this has to do with the fact they don’t have many other options and that they want to get a return on their investment.

Dorial Green-Beckham is Agholor’s teammate and is going through some of the same issues. He was acquired late in the preseason after the Tennessee Titans got tired of his lack of focus. Green-Beckham has all the physical talents needed to succeed but just doesn’t seem mature enough to capitalize on it.

Perriman still hasn’t see a NFL field during an actual game including the preseason. The word is he has a shot of playing during the Baltimore Ravens final preseason game this week. However, there’s still plenty of uncertainty surrounding his durability and long-term health.

Devin Smith’s career with the New York Jets is in real jeopardy as the team might be running out of patience. Availability is key in the NFL and Smith is quickly becoming an afterthought in New York.

The Colts are hoping that Dorsett can have a better Sophomore season with Andrew Luck under center for the entire year. He’s a speed threat who excels at taking the top off a defense. Last year without Luck there just wasn’t anybody capable of taking advantage of his skill set.
