San Diego Chargers fans have reason to be excited!

They look ready to bounce back from a down year that saw them go 4-12 in 2015. The Chargers had problems with injuries to the offensive line, run defense, running the ball and getting after opposing quarterbacks. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and the defensive secondary are among the best in the NFL.

That Chargers improved against the run last year when they put 2015 second-round pick Denzel Perryman in the lineup. So look for their No. 27 in the ranking to go up with Perryman in there from the start. The Chargers have all of their starting offensive lineman back from injury too.

As far as running the ball and getting after the quarterback go, they get two first-round picks this year. For starters, they finally signed 2016 first-round pick Joey Bosa. The Chargers will reportedly use him at 3-4 end for the most part but move him around.

Bosa will give the Chargers an interior pass rush to help outside linebacker Melvin Ingram rush the passer. He’s also good against the run so he will help the team there as well. The second first-round pick the Chargers are getting this year is 2015 first-round pick Melvin Gordon.

Gordon is one of only three running backs taken in the first round in the last three years. But the Chargers didn’t really have him last year, trying to play with a knee that required microfracture surgery. With that out of the way, Gordon has his explosion back.

He put it on display on a 39-yard touchdown run against the Minnesota Vikings. He will give Rivers that much-needed running game to keep opposing defenses honest. The AFC West is tough this year as the Chargers have improved to keep up.
