Russell Wilson and co simply cannot figure out how to beat the Rams. Los Angeles defeated Seattle Seahawks 9-3 in their home debut.

Wilson falls to 4-5 against the Rams in his career. No matter how great the Seattle Seahawks are and how bad the Rams get, Jeff Fisher seems to have the upper hand in the divisional rivalry against Pete Carroll.

Now losers in four of their last five against the Rams, the Seahawks were banged up all around, which contributed to just the 3 points scored all game.

Wilson tried to will his team to victory on a high ankle sprain but was severely limited in his offensive attack. He couldn’t run the ball and had a very tough time scrambling out of the pocket. His heroic effort simply wasn’t enough. His offensive weapons were picked off one by one as well.

Thomas Rawls left the game with a leg injury. Tyler Lockett suffered a knee injury and didn’t return until the fourth quarter. And to top it off, Doug Baldwin played through a back injury most of the game.

Seattle has scored 15 total points this season with a 1-1 record. The defense is still as effective as it was in 2013, but the offense is a step behind.

But there is no need to worry about the Seahawks. In 2014 they started the season 3-3 and after a 28-26 loss to (you guessed it) the Rams, they went on a torrid streak to finish the season 12-4.

In 2015 they started the first half of the season 4-5, but snapped out of it and turned the season into a 10-6 playoff team.

This team will remain as an NFC contender even with their patented slow starts. They have questions to answer with their offensive line as their trade for Jimmy Graham is taking its toll. With arguably the worst line protecting Wilson, was the extra offensive weapon worth it?

Russell Wilson finished last season on an amazing tear throwing for 25 touchdowns to just two interceptions in the last eight games. Their offense was second to only Carolina during the second half of the season.

More from Los Angeles Rams

Expectations for an MVP season from him grew over the offseason, but with the damp start audiences are growing impatient. He will bounce back, and it’s just matter of when; not if. Bare in mind Wilson still threw 254 yards on 63% completion against LA.

But let’s give credit where credit is due. The Rams suffocated the limited and injury-plagued Seahawks to just a field goal, the lowest total in the Russell Wilson era. Seattle went 4/13 on third down conversions and held them to just 306 total yards. They forced three fumbles and recovered one.

It has been a sloppy and sluggish start, but Seattle should bounce back with creative offensive schemes and terrorizing defense. Just a couple more weeks needed to work out the kinks.
