The Jacksonville Jaguars are having a tough time moving the ball on offense. However, Marqise Lee has had nice start to the season and is becoming a major factor.

It’s been a tough start to Marqise Lee’s NFL career. He has missed a lot of time due to injury and just hasn’t produced when on the field. His role with the team became increasingly unclear as teammates like Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns passed him on the depth chart.

There was even talk this offseason that Rashad Greene could take over as the full-time slot receiver.

The exact opposite has happened with Lee seizing that job while leading the team in receptions and 2nd in receiving yards. Lee’s development has been overlooked largely because the Jaguars struggles as a team.

Jacksonville headed into the season hoping to make a legitimate run at the playoffs. They spent a ton of money in the offseason to bring in players to complement their young core. Things just haven’t panned out and it could start costing people their jobs.

A lot of the offensive problems are being blamed on Blake Bortles erratic play. He’s completing blow 60% of his passes and already has 9 interceptions. There isn’t much of an excuse for Bortles poor production.

He has the luxury of throwing to one of the better receiving groups in the NFL. Allen Robinson is a stud who is among the top playmakers in the league. Hurns has shown his big-play ability and no Lee has emerged as an excellent option out of the slot.

The situation is made more frustrating by the fact that the AFC South is wide open. It’s the Houston Texans on top of the division with each of the other teams close enough to catch them.
