This is a quarterback driven league but some quarterbacks have better vehicles than others. That being the case, Matt Ryan has the best vehicle in receiver Julio Jones.

Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones is one of those receivers that you can’t do anything about. In the ’80s and ’90s, Jerry Rice was the guy that dominated game from the position. In the 2000s, Randy Moss made his mark on the game with his freakish athleticism.

Then after Calvin Johnson decided to walk away from the game of football, Julio Jones carries the torch. If you didn’t know, now you know as Jones made his statement in the NFC Championship Game. He had nine catches for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

And in the process, he abused Green Bay Packers cornerback LaDarius Gunter. His speed and power were on full display on a tackle-breaking 73-yard touchdown catch and run. On his other touchdown, displayed grace and body control seldom seen on a 6’4″, 220 pounder.

Jones showed is equally able to move the chains as he is to make big plays. He set the tone for the Falcons 44-21 victory over the Packers with his historic performance. Jones is now the only player in NFL history with multiple games over 150 yards in the conference championship.

He also joined Rice and Fred Biletnikoff as the only wide to record at least 180 yards in multiple postseason games. His performance makes you wonder what Bill Belichick and the AFC Champion New England Patriots will do about him.

Belichick likes to take his opponent’s best weapon away from them. But all that would do is clear open space for the Falcons’ secondary receivers, running backs and tight ends. The Falcons are fully loaded like that so it will be interesting to see what the Patriots do with them.
