Where Christian McCaffrey goes in the NFL Draft has been a big question. But it’s starting to look like he’s going to be a top-10 pick now. So he has a spot there in this 2017 NFL Mock Draft.

Before the combine, it was hard to tell where former Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey would get picked. He’s one of the best players in this draft but he didn’t fit in anyone’s box. RBs that get picked early in the first round are bell-cows but McCaffrey isn’t.

He can run and catch passes out of the backfield but that’s not all that’s required of a bell-cow. Bell-cows also block and get the ball when it’s 3rd-and-goal from the one. The full value of a bell-cow is not having to come off the field for anything.

But at 5’11”, 202 pounds, McCaffrey is a little light in the booty for blocking and short yardage. And if you can believe it, scouts questioned his speed and explosiveness. But McCaffrey answered all those questions with a 4.48 40 and a 37-inch vertical leap.

He also showed his pass-catching talent and scouts see him as a first-round talent at WR. Having first round talent at two different positions plus kick return ability should get you in the top 10. And NFL Network quoted multiple GMs saying McCaffrey would go there.
