The New Orleans Saints are kicking things off by having their rookies report to camp today which includes several players ready to make an immediate impact.

A lot of people are counting on several of this year’s rookies to help the New Orleans Saints get back to the playoffs. The guy with the most pressure is 1st round pick Marshon Lattimore. He was brought in to sure up the cornerback position.

Lattimore seemed like lock to be a top-10 pick, but feel a little during draft day. It appears that most of the concerns were about some hamstring issues and his overall lack of experience. However, there’s no doubting his natural talent and feel for the position.

The Saints other 1st round pick, Ryan Ramczyk, seen his chances of playing as a rookie rise when Teron Armstead went down with an injury. Ramczyk will now have a chance to compete for a starting job at either right or left tackle.

He’s seen as a strong pass protector who is still developing as a prospect. The Saints might have no choice but to throw him into the fire and see how he performs.

More from With the First Pick

It was a bit of a surprise when the Saints drafted Alvin Kamara, but it appears as though they have a plan. Kamara is an explosive athlete who can impact the game as a runner, receiver and return man. He will be competing with Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson for carries.

However, don’t rule out the possibility that he works out of the slot from time to time.

Safety Marcus Williams is a ball-hawking safety prospect who faces an uphill battle to start as a rookie. The Saints have Kenny Vaccaro and Vonn Bell penciled in as the starting safeties. However, Bell has seen time at cornerback and could play in the slot to get Williams on the field.

Look for defensive end Trey Hendrickson to get a chance to carve out a role as a pass rush specialist. If not, he’s someone who could earn time later in his career.

Alex Anzalone is a talented linebacker who could overtake Dannell Ellerbe by the end of the season. The issue for Anzalone is that he has a long history of injuries.
