Like I said before, there are still some players in their prime the Raiders can pick up in free agency. They aren’t household names as yet but they are up-and-comers that will soon be well known. One in particular is middle linebacker Mason Foster, who grew up right down the street in Seaside, California.

Unlike converted rush linebacker Miles Burris, Foster has instincts and knows how to read his keys. He’s also a thumper and a sure tackler that can cover but struggled with Achilles and shoulder injuries last year. If you go back to look at a healthy Foster in 2013, you would see that he’s on the way up.

He was allowed to hit free agency this year because he really isn’t the best fit for the the Tampa-2. The Raiders need to go ahead and jump on this one before another team steps in and gets him. Del Rio and defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. are former linebackers that can take Foster the rest of the way to the next level.
