17. Kansas City Chiefs- De’Runnya Wilson, WR, Mississippi State
The addition of Jeremy Maclin has done wonders to help open up the Kansas City Chiefs offense, but more weapons are needed. Mississippi State’s De’Runnya Wilson is the perfect complement to Maclin because of his size.
Wilson is a big and physical receiver who consistently wins in contested situations. He knows how to high-point the football and doesn’t need to be wide open to make a play. An offensive group featuring a healthy Jamaal Charles, Jeremy Maclin, Travis Kelce and Wilson would be very dangerous.
The Chiefs could also look to upgrade the offensive line with someone like Michigan State’s Jack Conklin, but in this mock draft he’s already off the board. They could also look at Ohio State’s Taylor Decker who’s a terrific athlete and projects as a left tackle in the NFL.
It’ll be interesting to see if Andy Reid considers adding a quarterback early in this draft. Alex Smith isn’t the type of quarterback who can lead a team to a championship which means eventually a change will be made.
Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg would be an interesting player of the Chiefs to consider. He’s an elite talent but has really struggled this season and has seen his stock drop a little.
