22. Carolina Panthers – 3-6
The Panthers were ahead 17-0 before letting Kansas City score 20 unanswered points. All the Panthers points came in the first half. With a chance to win the game, Kelvin Benjamin was stripped setting up the Chiefs game winning field goal.
Cam Newton became the first player in franchise history to reach 20,000 passing yards. He is the fifth youngest player in the NFL to reach 20,000 passing yards. Newton went 23-of-38 for 261 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed 12 times for 54 yards and a touchdown.
The Panthers are currently in last place in the NFC South, but have as good of a chance as any to win the division. They are only three games out of first place. The Panthers can move closer if they beat the Saints.
This week, the Panthers have a short week. They play on Thursday Night against the Saints. The Saints are a game ahead of the Panthers. The Panthers have been looking more like the NFC Champion team of last year. The defense will need to get after Drew Brees in order to win.
