Alabama. Jonathan Allen. 1. player. 53. Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson fired defensive coordinator Ray Horton in favor of Gregg Williams. This is important because it means the Browns are switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense. It’s also a sign that they like who they have on the edges.
Emmanuel Ogbah is 6’3″, 275 pounds and runs a 4.6 40-yard dash but he’s no linebacker. That speed he has is better used going forward on every play instead of dropping in coverage. So the Browns have made a way for him to play the position he’s most comfortable at.

The Browns could take Myles Garrett and have two speedy defensive ends coming off the edge. But having one great edge rusher and one great interior rusher is better to have. So at No. 1 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns should select Jonathan Allen.

The Browns have three great quarterbacks in their division, so they need to be able to get after them. And putting Allen in there at the 3-technique with Ogbah outside would help the Browns do that. Many a great defense has been built around a interior D-lineman and Allen is worthy of that.
. DT
