DE. Michigan. Taco Charlton. 9. player. 56. At 6’6″, 277 pounds with long arms, former Michigan DE Taco Charlton looks the part. D-line coaches in a 4-3 system want a guy with that kind of length to keep blockers off of him. He also has a quick first step and continues with plenty of burst around the corner on an OT.
He didn’t have the greatest day at the NFL Scouting Combine running his 40 in the 4.9s. But at Michigan’s Pro Day, he confirmed his quick first step and burst, running in the 4.7s. Charlton converts speed to power pretty well, enabling him to generate force on a bull rush too.
<div class=

Then there’s his array of rip moves along with a spin move he’ll hit you with on occasion. His hand usage is a work in progress but a D-line coach will be happy to work with him on that. What he has now will succeed in the NFL as soon as he gets to the team that picks him though.

And at No. 9 overall, the Cincinnati Bengals will be that team as they love tall, long DEs. The Bengals straightened out their problem at MLB, cutting Rey Maualuga and signing Kevin Minter. With the offense they have behind QB Andy Dalton and WR Julio Jones, it’s time to make a move up.
