At 6’3″, 286 pounds, Jonathan Allen has plus athleticism, running a 5-flat 40. He’s just one of those guys that doesn’t stay blocked in the running game or passing game. He doesn’t have the length you generally want for a two-gap, 3-4 end but he wins with his hands.

He has club-moves, rip-moves and will just plain slap your hands down when you try to block him. He’ll be a great interior pass-rusher on third down while lined up as a three-technique. Back at Alabama, he seemed to live in his opposing team’s offensive backfield.

Chicago Bears HC John Fox is a defensive-minded coach that builds his teams through the defense first. And he’s already done a lot of work on that side of the ball recently. So when Allen takes one of the DE spots, there will be no weakness on their front-seven.

Fox has even tightened up the secondary, bringing in S Quintin Demps and CB Prince Amukamara. And the Bears are giving QB Mike Glennon a chance to see what he can do in a starting role. If it works out, the NFC North will have a hard time beating the Bears.
. DE. Alabama. Jonathan Allen. 3. player. 57
