Cleveland Browns 2017 Mock Draft: Complete Seven Rounds
145. Montravius Adams, DT, 5th round pick 1, Auburn
In the last few seasons the Browns have had a terrible time stopping the run. Switching from a 3-4 defense to a 4-3 defense will help a lot.
With all the changes, the new defensive staff of the Browns needs defensive lineman that they can rely on. Adams gives you a player that can clog up your interior defense and give you the occasional quarterback pressure.

He has great size and is more athletic than he looks. He also played in a fast-pace conference, with great line talent.
The Browns desperately need reliable interior big man to rotate with Danny Shelton and Jamie Meder. Adams gives them a plug and play player that can be in the lineup opening day.
177. JJ Dielman, Center, 5th round pick 32, Utah
The Browns went hard after offensive line help in free agency. Signing Kevin Zeitler the most highly coveted Guard in this year’s free agency and J C Tretter the highest rated center. Their persistence shows just how important this is to a young team. With Tretter’s injury history and Cleveland not having a viable backup center Dielman Makes sense at this pick.
Dielman is a solid run blocker, with good speed and a high motor. He is a better than average athlete, with a high ceiling. He needs to learn to get better leverage at the point of attack and work on his feet. The upside is there, with the ability to translate to all positions in the interior line Dielman makes a lot of sense at this pick.
183. William Likely, Corner, Maryland 5th round pick 38, Maryland
The Browns are going to invest some secondary picks in this draft. Pressure from the line and pressure in the defensive backfield are the two things that drive Greg Williams defense. Last season, Briean Boddy-Calhoun Stepped up and played the nickel corner role well. Even With Boddy-Calhoun’s solid play the Browns still struggled in dime package.
In comes Likely, the player I am calling a poor man’s Budda Baker. Likely has the speed and the quick turning ability to give you a solid player at the fourth defensive back position. He has the ball tracking skills to play free safety, as well as special teams. Likely lacks the size to be an elite corner but is good in coverage.
