27. player. 124. With the No. 27 overall pick in the draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select former Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has all the tools you could want your future franchise QB to have. But I put emphasis on the future with him because he’s not ready to play right now. <p>But that mobility along with his huge arm, ability to adlib and thow from different platforms is insane.. But he’s a bit too much of a gunslinger that takes too many risks for and NFL coach right now. With a year of development under his belt, he would be ready to roll for the Chiefs.</p> <p>He needs to go somewhere that he can sit for a year and come out ready to play in 2018. The Chiefs are perfect for him to go and learn from QB guru Andy Reid and QB Alex Smith. Of course, we know Reid’s track record with QBs and Smith can keep the seat warm for a year. </p> <p>Smith isn’t the guy that’s going to carry a team to the Super Bowl and has topped out. He’s just good enough to keep the job over Mahomes until Mahomes is ready. Once he learns the pro game and to play disciplined football, he’ll beat Smith out and take the Chiefs further.</p>. QB.
