Ranked in the top 10, the Indianapolis Colts had an offense good enough to win games. But unfortunately, they have a defense good enough to lose games and they did. The only thing that defense did worse than play the run last year is play the pass.
This is a good draft to do something about that and they did, starting with S Malik Hooker. The Colts were fortunate to have the best center fielder of the draft class fall to them. Then in Round 2, they attacked the CB position, bringing in CB Quincy Wilson.

Wilson is one of the better CBs of the deep class but there are so many, someone has to fall. In Round 3, they got a 4-3 DE Tarell Basham, whose fit in this 3-4 defense I do not know. I’m thinking he’s more of a rotational they bring in to rush the passer inside.

At this time, the rest of the Colts’ haul in the 2017 NFL Draft looks like depth. We should expect the Colts pass defense to tighten up with the run defense still needing work. But improving the pass defense still gives the Colts a better chance to win the AFC South in 2017.

. — A. . indianapolis colts. 15. team. 46
