Los Angeles Chargers: In-Depth 2017 NFL Draft Review

The Los Angeles Chargers hit a home run with this draft class. They were able to add at least three day-1 starters. Look for Mike Williams to have a major impact as a down-field threat. Philip Rivers knows how to make use of big target like Williams.
He also provides insurance in case Keenan Allen suffers another injury or Tyrell Williams’s success last year was a mirage.

Both Forrest Lamp and Dan Feeney will compete for jobs on the offensive line. Lamp has some versatility which means he could see action at guard, center or even right tackle. The important thing is that Los Angeles now has plenty of options.
I really love the Desmond King pick because of his NFL-readiness and the value of drafting him in the 5th round. He could see action early at cornerback where the Chargers lack depth. It would allow them to use Casey Hayward in the slot which is his best position.
The surprise is that they failed to add a young developmental quarterback to the mix. Philip Rivers’ career is nearing an end and the Chargers don’t have a long-term replacement. They could’ve used one of their later picks on someone like Nathan Peterman.
