LSU Offense v. Alabama Defense

Joe Burrow, Quarterback v. Xavier McKinney, Safety

The eyes of scouts are likely to be more intently focused on Burrow than Tagovailoa as they re-evaluate a player viewed as a late-round prospect before his incredible rise this year. McKinney will be vital in shutting down an explosive passing game and ensuring those watching Burrow closely are not impressed by what they see.

Justin Jefferson, Wide Receiver v. Shyheim Carter, Cornerback

Carter will have just as big of a role as McKinney in slowing down LSU and Burrow. Jefferson is unquestionably Burrow’s favorite target and already has 819 yards and nine touchdowns this year. If Carter can lock him down, then it could be a long afternoon for Burrow.

Lloyd Cushenberry, Offensive Guard v. Raekwon Davis, Defensive Tackle

It’s become almost cliche to make the assessment that interior pressure is the best way to disrupt a quarterback’s rhythm, but it still rings true. The versatile and ultra-talented Davis has been held without a sack this year, but if he produces a disruptive performance against LSU, nobody will remember his struggles over the first eight games.
