Scouting Report

Already accepting his invite to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, Cincinnati tight end Josiah Deguara is the most recognized player on the Cincinnati roster when discussing the 2020 NFL Draft. At 6-3 and 240 pounds, Deguara is plenty big enough to play the tight end position at the next level, and is putting together his best season yet as a redshirt senior.

On pace to top his totals from a year ago, Deguara has recorded 424 yards and seven touchdowns on 30 catches this year for the Bearcats’ offense; this puts him on pace to shatter the 468 yards and five scores on 38 catches that he managed a year ago.

On film, Deguara proves to be a dependable player and security blanket for his young sophomore quarterback. While he displays good hands, he does not, however, show great catch comfortability as he tends to gator arm or bring the ball into his chest rather than extend his arms to the catch point.

Deguara, one of the more respected parts of his game, shows flashes of being a mean, gritty run blocker, and overall, is reliable in that phase of his game. He shows good play speed on tape, and has the ability to be a massive mismatch for the Bearcats when they take on the Tigers this weekend.
