5th Round

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. Jordan Fuller. 142. player. 42. Safety

As stated above the 49ers have had injuries in their secondary and safety is probably their most injury-riddled position; it seems as though every year for the past several years the 49ers have had injuries decimate their safety group; here’s where Jordan Fuller comes in.

For Ohio State, Fuller is often-times the lone safety on the field because they like to keep three cornerbacks on the field. With his experience playing single high and roaming the middle of the field this could give San Francisco some relief if they were to see their safeties go down with injuries again. He is a phenomenal athlete with great length and he isn’t afraid to lay the wood either.

Fuller may not be an immediate starter, but he would certainly give the 49ers depth at a position they have been needing it at for multiple years.

Lousiana-Lafayette. Robert Hunt. 158. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 42. Right Tackle. player

Another position group that has been injury-plagued for San Francisco is their offensive line. They were forced to start their 6th-round, Justin Skule, at left tackle earlier in the year when Joe Staley went down and now are playing their back-up center — Ben Garland — because of the injury sustained to Weston Richburg. The 49ers will also be losing, Garland, Daniel Brunskill, and Shon Coleman to free agency in 2020 so adding to their offensive line is a must, insert Robert Hunt.

Hunt is an absolute mauler. He is one of the more aggressive offensive linemen in this year’s draft and he makes an effort to finish opposing lineman all the way to the ground. Playing for a Group of 5 school, it may take some time for him to get acclimated to the level of talent at the NFL, but he will be at this year’s Senior Bowl, giving him the opportunity to prove he is ready to start in the NFL.
