The Miami Dolphins shake things up with their quarterback selection, which seemed to be certain up till now, in this three-round mock of the 2020 NFL Draft

It seems as though we all know what the Miami Dolphins are going to do with their first pick in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft — select Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He has been linked to them since before the season even began and when they started selling off players, it became apparent they were going to “Tank for Tua.”

Miami didn’t just trade away players though, they had a straight-fire sale. They shipped off Minkah Fitzpatrick, which made no sense, and also gave Robert Quinn to the Dallas Cowboys for practically nothing. Quinn went on to lead Dallas in sacks with 11.5, and there’s no way they get close to that production with the sixth-round pick they added.

Then there was the move at quarterback. Ryan Tannehill did have his warts but the Dolphins were so keen on getting rid of him that they paid a lot of his contract so the Tennessee Titans would take him. And heck, Tannehill ended up starting in the AFC Championship Game.

With all that being said, it was clear the front office wasn’t in a win-now mode. As for the players, they didn’t get the memo. Ryan Fitzpatrick and the rest of the offense did their best to foil the plans and the Dolphins lost out on the No. 1 pick. Instead, they fell to the No. 5 pick but it seemed as though they were still going to get their guy.

Tua was passed up by Joe Burrow and none of the teams between Cincinnati and Miami had needs under center. So that means they should still get their guy. But in this mock, they don’t.

While he is on the board, Miami calls an audible and goes elsewhere in the biggest surprise in this 3-Round 2020 NFL Mock Draft.
