The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine is finally here and the Dallas Cowboys will need to be paying close attention to these 5 players who could help them improve their roster
New head coach Mike McCarthy finds himself in a pretty good situation with the Dallas Cowboys. They’re coming off an 8-8 campaign, but their roster suggests they should have been better. The only question right now is whether or not they can keep that nucleus together.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is a free agent and the two sides are reportedly not close on a deal. They also have to figure out what to do with some other key players with Amari Cooper, Byron Jones, Robert Quinn, and Randall Cobb all set to hit the open market after playing a significant role in 2019.
There’s little doubt they will keep Prescott and Cooper and then considering the relationship McCarthy and Cobb have (they were together for years in Green Bay), it’s likely he returns as well. That leaves Quinn and Jones who could be gone but at least the majority of the roster would still be good enough to compete in the NFC East.
Of course, simply competing isn’t enough. For years, that’s all the Cowboys have done and McCarthy’s job isn’t to get them close. He needs to get them over the hump.
In order to do that, he and the front office need to get as much young talent in as possible. With that being said, here are five names at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine that McCarthy will need to pay close attention to — and that fans should get to know.
