While this writer hopes that TCU right tackle Lucas Niang does not slip into day three of the draft, there has been a report that suggested teams may have a pretty big medical red flag next to his name. This report suggested that the talented and athletic Horned Frog may fall to just that, the third day of the draft despite the world of talent he displays on film.

Niang mentioned at the combine that he has had to change his technique due to a nagging hip injury. He is slipping a bit as his injury kept him from not only testing at the combine, but also from participating in the Senior Bowl. Do not be fooled, however, as he is still quite the solid tackle and will be a starter early in his career despite where he is drafted.

A healthy Niang, however, is among the best tackles in this year’s draft class, ranked above Josh Jones as this writer’s OT6. He is big, athletic, and can stride it out with the best of them. He could be the steal of the 2020 NFL Draft should he drop to the third day of the draft and manage to stay healthy.
