Three round WTFP staff mock draft: Atlanta Falcons picks
Round 2, Pick 47: Ross Blacklock, IDL, TCU
The Falcons have been trying to beef up the trenches for years. They have spent premium cap space and draft capital on the offensive and defensive lines since head coach Dan Quinn was hired. Trying to shed the label as a finesse team, the trenches have been a heavy focus. Dante Fowler was brought in this off-season and Tyeler Davidson signed a multi year extension. The Falcons should not be done adding to the trenches, especially on defense.
To complement Jarrett and Davidson, the Falcons will certainly be looking at TCU defensive tackle Ross Blacklock. Adding Blacklock to this defensive front would certainly make it interesting. Having Fowler and Takkarist McKinley coming off the edge with Jarrett, Davidson, and Blacklock in the middle would be very helpful in a division with three other explosive offenses in New Orleans, Tampa Bay, and Carolina.
Blacklock has the potential to be an absolute game wrecker in the future. He is an athletic piece that can be moved all across the interior of the defensive line. His best trait is his athleticism. Combining his quickness and his power makes him a nightmare to block one on one. His ability to fire out and be in the backfield in an instant is terrifying. Playing him next to Grady Jarrett would help the Falcons have a dominant interior pass rush.
