Given the lack of depth at the receiver position for San Francisco, there is every chance the Niners choose to double-dip at wideout.

After undergoing core muscle surgery, Aiyuk could face a drop down the board and may represent one of the steals of the draft depending on how far he slides.

The 49ers would be wise to capitalize in such a scenario. Aiyuk is of a similar makeup to Deebo Samuel but, while Samuel excels through his versatility in being moved around the formation, Aiyuk unquestionably has the skill set to make his living primarily as a boundary receiver.

Aiyuk possesses exceptional change-of-direction ability, which he incorporates into his route-running, successfully selling inside and outside fakes along with double moves. His agility also shines through after the catch, with his highly impressive vision and contact balance helping him rack up extra yardage.

On rare occasions when he has been faced with press coverage, Aiyuk has shown the physicality to be able to defeat it, while he also tracks the ball extremely well and can make spectacular adjustments to inaccurate throws.

A dynamic weapon in the return game, Aiyuk is a prospect whose holes are limited, and it would be a surprise if he is not near the top of Kyle Shanahan’s wishlist at wideout.
