DT. Pick Analysis. Javon Kinlaw. 3. player. 850. Scouting Report. South Carolina

Kinlaw may not be the most popular pick among 49ers fans, many of whom are desperate for a playmaker at the receiver position and bored of San Francisco dedicating premium draft capital to the trenches.

But using those picks on the trenches is how the 49ers have constructed a Super Bowl-caliber team and, as they look to fill the void left by Buckner, Kinlaw’s traits make him stand out as an excellent fit on the defensive interior.

Incredibly long and explosive, Kinlaw possesses the combination of size and quickness that made Buckner such a force from the 3-technique position for San Francisco.

Kinlaw is not as refined as Buckner was coming out of Oregon in 2016 but, if he landed with the 49ers, he would get the chance to play for the ideal team with which to build on his raw natural ability.

San Francisco defensive line coach Kris Kocurek has developed an excellent reputation in just one season with the Niners. Kinlaw would likely thrive under his tutelage and, playing alongside the likes of Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead and Dee Ford, would benefit from seeing a significant number of one-on-one matchups.

The 49ers have the perfect environment for Kinlaw to immediately dominate in the pros and give San Francisco another young stud on a stacked defensive line.
