RB. LSU. 3. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Clyde Edwards-Helaire. 124

The Chiefs are not short of options at running back, with first-round pick Edwards-Helaire joining Damien Williams and Darwin Thompson in the backfield.

However, he has the most diverse skill set of any back on the roster and should see plenty of early work as a runner and in the passing game.

Edwards-Helaire used his blend of power and elusiveness to average 6.6 yards per carry in his final season at LSU, and he thud he brings will likely result in plenty of goal-line work for the former Tiger.

Helaire had 16 touchdowns on the ground in 2019, when he also demonstrated considerable upside as a receiver, catching 55 balls and averaging 8.2 yards per reception.

The numbers are unlikely to be as gaudy in his first year in the pros in a timeshare with Williams. However, the combination of his scoring threat in short-yardage situations and his talents as a receiver should make Edwards-Helaire one of the first rookies off the board in fantasy football drafts.

He should be especially high on boards in PPR leagues, with a Chiefs passing game that frequently tests defenses deep sure to open plenty of opportunities underneath.

Expect Edwards-Helaire to be a featured part of the Chiefs offense as a rookie and, given the potential he displayed at LSU, expect him to take advantage of those opportunities and reward fantasy football players who invest in him.
