Scouting Report

While the offensive line room may have an abundance of depth, the wide receiver room does not in Berea. However, given the large volume of tight ends that new head coach Kevin Stefanski loves to utilize, they may give a roster spot or two usually allocated to a receiver to that position instead.

Entering the draft, the Browns only had two solid receivers on their roster in Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. They then used their sixth rounder on the highly talented and athletic but underutilized Peoples-Jones to add depth to the position, then re-signed Rashard Higgins to a one-year deal to bring back Baker Mayfield’s favorite target.

That leaves presumably one or two spots for KhaDarel Hodge, Damien Ratley, and Taywan Taylor to fight for. Given his ability to be a significant contributor on special teams, Hodge may have an edge over the other two.

Ratley is still young and has shown flashes, but Taylor struggled to find the field even though he was acquired by Dorsey in a trade with the Titans a year ago. He has a long, uphill battle to make the roster, and Taylor has to hope he and Mayfield can find some chemistry in training camp in order to win a roster spot.
