3 dark horses candidates who could win 2020 NFL MVP

Last season, Stafford was having one of the best seasons of his career. According to Dan Orlovsky, before he went down with injuries, Stafford was on pace for 38 touchdowns along with 4,998 passing yards. The obvious setback for Stafford besides injury concerns is the incompetence of the Detroit Lions. The combined record of the past five MVP winners has been 65-15 (.813 winning %) which comes out to an average of 13 wins per season.
Matt Ryan did win the MVP in 2016 with just an 11-5 record but battling in the ultra-competitive NFC North, Stafford has a huge uphill battle. However, Stafford has a very underrated supporting cast with Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones, and Danny Amendola. With the additions of D’Andre Swift, Geronimo Allison, and the hopeful development of T.J. Hockenson, the Lions have plenty talent among their skill positions.
There are still some questions regarding his offensive line, but Stafford has proven he is not short on talent as a quarterback. Holding NFL records such as the fastest player to reach 40,000 career passing yards, as well as the most fourth quarter comebacks (8) in a single season, Stafford is one of theatrics and is more than capable of winning an MVP if everything comes together.
