2020 NFL Draft: 3 most underhyped NFL rookies entering 2020
By Cory Kinnan
CB A.J. Terrell, Atlanta Falcons
With the 16th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons shocked a large portion of the draft community by selecting Clemson cornerback A.J. Terrell. Taken over the likes of TCU’s Jeff Gladney, LSU’s Kristian Fulton, Ohio State’s Damon Arnette, and Auburn’s Noah Igbinoghene, many thought that CB3 was too steep of a reach for Terrell.
Many will turn to the national championship game against LSU as a reason Terrell is overrated. However, despite getting beat a handful of times by Biletnikoff winner Ja’Marr Chase, Terrell found himself in great position in that game, and put together a phenomenal portfolio in 2019 for the Tigers.
However, our own Jeremiah Bogan had Terrell rated as his third cornerback behind Jeffrey Okudah and Florida’s C.J. Henderson. The Falcons took him in that exact slot after these two stud cornerback prospects, replacing their former Pro Bowl cornerback Desmond Trufant.
Terrell will enter his rookie season with a target on his back, especially considering Atlanta’s general manager Thomas Dimitroff is on the hot seat entering 2020. However, with success in 2020, Terrell may just save Dimitroff’s job.
