Where Robert Rochell shows room for growth

On the other hand, Rochell is not a perfect prospect. He sometimes has difficulty with play recognition and ends up looking lost. Specifically, when guarding a jump ball, Rochell becomes vulnerable to letting up big plays when he doesn’t look back in the sky to track the football.

To add, even if Rochell is a physical athlete, he has a hard time block shedding because he plays a bit too high and doesn’t have leverage against his opposition, resulting in him being a poor run stuffer. Against run plays, he is often seen getting blocked out of the play and not being able to help his team in run support.

Moreover, the 2021 prospect’s worst trait is his motor. It always seems as though the play doesn’t matter to him if it is not near him. For example, if he is guarding a crossing route, Rochell doesn’t try hard enough to stick to his assignment and ends up losing coverage. This lack of effort is also a key reason why he’s not the strongest run defender, and therefore, you won’t see him join in on a gang tackle.

To wrap up, Rochell does have his flaws but, luckily, they are very solvable. He just needs to put the time in on fixing them.
