With the 2021 NFL Draft around the corner, UTEP vs. Texas offers talent
Let’s be blunt about this. UTEP is coming off a 1-11 season and facing one of the most potent offenses in the nation. There’s a good chance that this turns into a bloodbath after the first quarter or so. But if you’re into that sort of thing and want to watch two Texas programs fight it out on a Saturday night, then this is your lucky day. UTEP vs. Texas looks to have a handful of 2021 NFL Draft to watch as well.
Despite the uphill climb that UTEP will be fighting to upset a blue-blood program like Texas, there’s still enough tenacity on the UTEP defense to give the offense some occasional fits. UTEP is riding high after a 24-14 victory of Stephen F. Austin in their season opener, and the chance to get their feet wet prior to this matchup is helpful for their odds of a competitive game.
On the offensive side of the ball, UTEP is bringing redshirt freshman runner Deion Hankins to the table. Hankins is fresh off an 117-yard rushing performance against the Lumberjacks last week, and figures to be the most likely source of success when they have possession. On the defensive side, UTEP has honorable mention all-conference returner Duron Lowe, who is both a starter cornerback and notable kick returner.
Let’s get into the Texas stars that you’ll be hearing about for most of the matchup. Even though it might be a squash match, it’s a great chance to see these players test out their summer improvements.
