1. New York Jets: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
Is there any surprise here? On either end?
Not only are the New York Jets still awful, but Trevor Lawrence has been as brilliant as the Jets have been bad. Head coach Adam Gase will not be in New York beyond 2020, and rightfully so as he has been as arrogant as he has been bad. With Lawrence coming to town, this is good news as Gase is not the man the Jets will want molding their young quarterback.
As the season keeps chugging along, the more it looks like Sam Darnold will be on his way out of the Big Apple and Lawrence will be in. This holds true here.
2. Atlanta Falcons: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
One has to feel bad for current Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan, who is less than four years removed from an MVP season. However, as Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff are out the door, one has to wonder whether or not Ryan may be out the door with them as a new regime may press the reset button and look to get a new quarterback of their own.
The Falcons do just that here, landing Ohio State quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist Justin Fields with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The former University of Georgia quarterback returns to the Peach State here as the Buckeyes and Fields get set to return to the field. Two picks, two quarterbacks; will the trend stay the same next?
