5. Atlanta Falcons: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State

All four of the top quarterbacks are now off the board in the first five picks of this 2021 NFL Mock Draft as the Atlanta Falcons come on the clock. There are now reports that owner Arthur Blank will give the new general manager the opportunity to hit the reset button, starting with quarterback Matt Ryan and wide receiver Julio Jones.

Should the new GM do just that, then taking the North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance with the fifth overall pick here becomes a no-brainer. Despite opting out and declaring after the FCS moved their season to the Spring, Lance has some of the most physically gifted traits of any quarterback in the class.

Should he be molded correctly, he could become a top gunslinger in the NFL for a long time. That is a risk worth taking for the Falcons.

6. Miami Dolphins (via HOU): Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

The Miami Dolphins are still profiting from the trade of Laremy Tunsil to the Houston Texans. As the Texans remain a dumpster fire, reeling from the Bill O’Brien era, the Dolphins reap the rewards of a borderline top-five pick. Given the cornerstone positions added over the last two drafts, the Dolphins can afford a luxury  pick. They do just that here by taking Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons.

A well-rounded prospect, Parsons fits like a glove into the system of head coach Brian Flores, and will be deployed in a variety of looks. Deployed as a pass rusher, Parsons thrives. He is solid in run support, and a fantastic athlete to hit his landmarks in coverage as well. Should he land in Miami, Parsons would be set up to be a perennial Pro Bowler at the next level.
